Federalism is the belief that the national government shares power with the state governments. This makes sure that a central government does not gain too much power and that a state government does not gain too much independence that it poses a problem.

Article 6 says that the laws and treaties are "The supreme law of the land". This means that this country is governed by the laws and amendments in this Constitution and is the foundation and legal code for the United States.

All the federal officials working in the state and federal government are required to take an oath. This oath is to defend the Constitution.

Religious tests are not allowed as part of the government official's rise to an office. This means that anybody can become a part of the government regardless of faith.

All debts made in the U.S. before the Constitution were still to be kept after the Constitution. This was fair because we needed to pay off our war debts.
